Robin has been a member of the House of Lords since 2006, where he is a respected expert in the green energy sector who has been heavily involved in energy and climate change policy. He chaired the House of Lords’ EU Energy & Environment Select Committee, is a Trustee of the Government’s ‘Green Share’ in the privatised Green Investment Bank and is a board member of the think tank Policy Connect which focuses on sustainability issues. He is also Co-chair of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Nature Partnership. An economist by discipline, Robin has also had a successful career in the distribution and logistics industry, developing and operating major distribution centres for the UK’s leading retailers.
Andrew Pegg
Managing Director
Andrew qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1997 and holds the CFA Investment Management Certificate. After a career at leading surveying practices, Andrew established in 2009 the South West-focused property developer Wessex Investors Ltd, backed primarily by Development Securities Plc, and in 2019 established Wessex Strategic Ltd, a specialist land promoter and developer, in partnership with Richardsons Capital Ltd. Andrew is also active in the renewable energy sector through associated company Aldustria Ltd which is a developer and operator of energy storage systems. Increasingly energy and energy transition are critical components for real estate development and promotion, and this association provides Wessex Strategic with a competitive advantage.
Dr. Matt Hilton (PhD)
Technical Director
Matt is an experienced engineer and business leader, with three decades in the development arena. Over the last ten years, as Hydrock’s Managing Director and Board Director, he led the expansion of the company’s integrated engineering design, energy and sustainability consultancy business, and sale to Stantec in 2024. Throughout that time, he also steered the company’s leadership in the delivery of solutions that are climate resilient, benefit society and maximise asset value. As Technical Director for Wessex Strategic, he is now managing the multi-disciplinary consultancy teams working on our projects, helping to optimise our operational efficiency, and overseeing the sustainability of our projects with a focus on climate adaptability, protecting and enhancing local communities, and increasing value for our partners and investors.
Ed Heynes
Planning Director
Ed is a Chartered Town Planner (Member of The Royal Town Planning Institute) with more than 30 years of planning experience within the town planning profession. As well as helping to deliver projects for Wessex Strategic, he runs a town planning consultancy, Heynes Planning Ltd, based in the South West of England. Prior to setting up his own business, he was a Director at Hepher Dixon Ltd, and then with Savills. Ed has also provided evidence on a variety of projects – both in terms of planning appeals and as an expert witness – and has acted as an external examiner to the MSc Planning Course at Plymouth University.
Niki Lathwell and Lucie Brailsford
Combined, Niki and Lucie have more than 55 years’ experience of providing board-level and international corporate reputation, communications and PR services in highly technical fields such as Engineering, IT, Energy and Finance. Today, their South West-based consultancy, Seaxburh Partners, devises and delivers strategic brand management, relationship building and promotional programmes for developers and innovators and, together, they manage Wessex Strategic’s key stakeholder, media and public engagement activities.
